How does taste matching work?▼
TheKnow uses a sophisticated algorithm based on Pearson correlation to find users whose restaurant ratings match yours. When you rate restaurants, we compare your ratings with other users. If your ratings correlate strongly (meaning you tend to agree on restaurants), you become "taste matches." Recommendations from your closest taste matches are weighted more heavily in your personalized feed.
What makes TheKnow different from other restaurant apps?▼
Unlike apps that show you generic crowd ratings, TheKnow finds people who share your specific taste preferences. Instead of trusting thousands of strangers with different palates, you get recommendations from people whose ratings correlate with yours. This means when your top taste match loves a restaurant, you're much more likely to love it too.
How do I find restaurants I'll actually love?▼
Start by rating restaurants you've tried during onboarding. The more restaurants you rate, the better we can match you with taste matches. Once you have taste matches, browse your personalized "For You" feed to see restaurants your taste matches have rated highly. You can also filter by cuisine, price, location, and confidence level to find exactly what you're looking for.

What is a TES score?▼
TES stands for Taste Engagement Score. It's a measure of how active and engaged you are on TheKnow, based on factors like the number of restaurants you've rated, how many taste matches you have, and your participation in the community. A higher TES score generally means more accurate taste matching and better personalized recommendations.
